We have partnered with Tui Park Kindergarten

We are very excited to be working with Tui Park Kindergarten in Linden. As of 16 October, we are providing a selection of spreads, cheese and fruit to Tui Park. Nga Ropu, Head Teacher at Tui Park said they put the fruit out for afternoon tea for tamariki to enjoy. Cheese and spreads are used at breakfast and lunchtime for toast and sandwiches.

One of our board member’s grandmother kindly donated a toasted sandwich maker which the teachers use to make tamariki toasted sandwiches for lunch.

Nga said “Many thanks for your huge donation for our tamariki and community.  The tamariki are enjoying the food weekly and it has been a great help to some of our families”.

After talking with Denise Byarugaba, Neighbourhood and Community Advisor at Linden Community Centre, we realised children were not suddenly going without food when starting school – this problem begins much earlier. Children as young as 18 months are going to their local kindergarten with nothing in their lunchbox.

Our aim is to continue to partner with local kindergartens as well as schools where needed. We look forward to a long and positive relationship with Tui Park Kindergarten.
