Take 10 Arvo's

Our focus is to increase the reach Take 10 has in the community by extending the services we offer to rangatahi in the form of a youth zone.

School Holiday Programmes

Happy New Year!

We also have some great one-off events lined up over the summer:

We’re teaming up with Migrants Aotearoa to host a multi-cultural afternoon tea and kōrero over kai to connect tamariki and rangatahi on Wednesday 19 January at Johnsonville Collective Community Hub and Thursday 20 January at Linden Community Centre both days 1.30 pm – 5 pm.

We are also hosting an afternoon hangout on Monday 21 February from 2 pm – 5 pm at the Collective Community Hub in Johnsonville for young Type 1 Diabetics in the Wellington region alongside Diabetes Youth Wellington. There has been lots of interest from the Type 1 community and many individuals putting their hands up to volunteer.

Tawa – Linden Community Centre
Over the summer break, (11 January onwards) we’ll be set up on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 3 – 5 pm. We have loads of summer activities lined up, including an outdoor water sports day!

Johnsonville – Collective Community Hub

We won’t be in Johnsonville during the holidays but we look forward to seeing everyone when school starts back in February 2022!

Make sure to keep an eye out on our social media sites for dates and times!

During the school term, we are at:

  • Linden Community Centre (10 Linden Avenue, Linden) every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 pm
  • Johnsonville Collective Community Hub (1/33 Johnsonville Road, Johnsonville) every Friday from 3 to 5 pm

Our team will be there offering our usual services: water, food, games, a chill-out space, bean bags and lots of cool workshops along with additional support services.

How it works

Take 10 Arvo’s aims to:

  • support rangatahi
  • provide a safe and fun space for them to come to after school

We keep our “safe zone” welcoming and non-judgmental, by:

  • always using positive language
  • greeting visitors with a smile, water, and lollies
  • providing a private space for those who need more attention

Want to help?

We’re looking for volunteers to help in the afternoons, hand out water, talk to people, and make the Take 10 area an inviting place to be. Interested? Click below, fill in your details and we’ll get back to you!

We are also always on the lookout for medics and registered youth workers to join us and help make a difference. If you’re qualified and interested, please contact us.

We love Take 10 Arvo’s, it’s a cool place to come after school and play some games. The food is good too!

Thanks for providing somewhere for the kids during the holidays. The Hip Hop workshop was awesome!
